Newcastle United have been long term admirers of Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck.

Newcastle United are considering a move for Arsenal’s Danny Welbeck, according to the Daily Mirror, and this summer could be an ideal time to swoop.
Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez has been a long term admirer of Welbeck, and has tried to bring him to St. James’ Park before.
At that time the transfer fell through, but Newcastle could have more chance of landing Welbeck now, and for a cheaper price.
Welbeck has done very little at Arsenal this season, meaning he is unlikely to be able to command such high wages.

The 28-year-old faces question marks over his fitness and ability, and he could have to take a pay cut if he leaves the Emirates Stadium in search of more game time.
Those factors may well take him to within Newcastle’s price range.
And Benitez may well get his long-term wish to see Welbeck in a Newcastle shirt, if the Magpies do make a move in the coming months.
