Newcastle United look set to miss out on West Ham United goalkeeper Darren Randolph to Middlesbrough.

According to a recent report from HITC Sport, Middlesbrough are closing in on a deal for West Ham stopper Darren Randolph after agreeing a fee, despite the Daily Mirror suggesting that Newcastle’s presence in the Premier League put them in the driving seat in the race for the Republic of Ireland international.

So perhaps it may be fair to suggest that if Randolph does end up heading to the Riverside Stadium rather than St James’ Park, the Magpies could be in for a double transfer blow.

Not only do they seem to be about to miss out on one of their targets, but perhaps Randolph leaving the Hammers may have a negative impact on Newcastle’s pursuit of another of the players on their radar.

According to another recent report from the Daily Mirror, Newcastle are interested in Randolph’s Irons teammate and fellow goalkeeper Adrian.

Joe Hart’s arrival at the London Stadium appears to have left question marks hanging over Adrian’s future with the loanee surely set to begin the coming campaign as the side’s number one.

But if Randolph does move on, surely West Ham will have doubts about also letting the Spaniard go unless they manage to find another stopper to come in and be Hart’s understudy.

Therefore, not only would Randolph’s possible switch to Middlesbrough leave Newcastle disappointed to miss out on a target, but it may perhaps also have a negative impact on their chances of landing another player that they are keen on this summer.
