Everton linked with Boca Juniors’ Frank Fabra, but with Newcastle needing a left-back should they enter the race?
The agent of Boca Juniors left-back Frank Fabra thinks that his client will end up playing in the Premier League having been linked with a transfer this summer.
Jose Constanzo confirmed to Sport Witness that Fabra knew of the interest from Everton and that there had been movement in the 27-year-old’s potential switch to England: “We know of a supposed interest from Everton, but we have not met with anybody of the club.”
“Boca will always ask for what the clause says, and that is 15 million dollars (£10.6m). But they told us that if a logical offer comes for what the player is worth, they are going to sell him.
“I think he’ll end up playing in the Premier League. There are other teams looking for left-backs.
“So let’s wait for what is the best in money and sportingly and we will decide. Frank wants to play in the Premier. But Napoli can be a possibility too.”
Who else could be interested?
There are indeed other teams in the top flight of English football who want to make improvements on the left side of defence, including Newcastle United.
The Chronicle reported in November that signing a new left-back was a priority in the January transfer window and yet no player in the position eventually came in.
Paul Dummett is first choice in the role, but manager Rafa Benitez wants competition for the Wales international with Massadio Haidara, Javier Manquillo and Chancel Mbemba failing to impress.
So could Newcastle take on the Toffees and look to bring Fabra – who has 17 caps for Colombia – to St James’ Park instead of Merseyside?
