The Sheffield Wednesday striker’s uncle has reunited with Steve Bruce at Aston Villa.

Sheffield Wednesday striker Jordan Rhodes needs little introduction to anyone at Aston Villa.
Manager Steve Bruce has coveted Rhodes at previous clubs as well as Villa – as recently as January – and saw them beaten by the 27-year-old’s goal when the Owls visited Villa Park in November.

As the winter window nears, the Villans are again in need of striking reinforcements with Jonathan Kodjia sidelined.
And having just appointed Rhodes’ uncle Steve Agnew, as head of coaching, it is plausible they could return for the Sheffield Wednesday man.

Rhodes is currently enjoying an extended run in Carlos Carvalhal’s team, which has produced three goals in eight matches, but has never quite looked comfortable in new surroundings since signing from Middlesbrough 11 months ago – be it due to tactics, teammates, or the pressure of wanting to succeed for a club that so clearly means a lot to he and his family.
It is not beyond the realms of possibility then, that Wednesday would sanction Rhodes’ exit next month – especially with Financial Fair Play rules hindering their own transfer plans.
The problem is that Aston Villa are experiencing similar problems, and may have to rely on loans to get them up this season.
But if lending them Rhodes helps the Owls to strengthen in other key areas, they may be happy to oblige.
Could Aston Villa move for Wednesday’s Rhodes in January?
