Celtic are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster on loan for next season.

With Rhian Brewster one of the brightest prospects England has, Jurgen Klopp is potentially making a big statement by allowing Celtic to take him on loan for next season, as Herald Scotland recently reported he may.
Brewster may have perhaps expected next season to be an opportunity to step into the Liverpool first-team, but it appears that he may well be continuing his development with a season-long move to Parkhead.

Given Celtic’s dominance, a switch to the Hoops could be an inspired step for the 18-year-old. If he plays, he will not struggle for opportunities in front of goal. But perhaps, it will be the matter of whether he will play that could tempt Klopp to reconsider whether sending him to the Bhoys is the right step due to their rivals’ frustration over the way that Celtic have treated one of their own prospects.

The Belgian has not started a game since February in any competition, and only appeared twice since the start of March. The Mail suggests that Chelsea are so angered by Musonda’s treatment that they could consider recalling him in the summer while Rodgers’ hopes of returning to Stamford Bridge as first-team boss in the future are dwindling partially because of the loan switch.
A summer of speculation surrounding Celtic’s strikers is likely to be on the cards, with Moussa Dembele continually linked with moves elsewhere and Odsonne Edouard currently at the club on loan. And it could certainly be argued that Leigh Griffiths may have questions to ask if both Dembele and Edouard remains on the books for next season.
Therefore, there could well be a space in Rodgers’ attacking ranks for Brewster. But if Celtic’s three existing options remain, Liverpool may be forgiven for looking at that and Musonda’s situation and having concerns regarding whether a loan move would be the best decision for the under-17 World Cup winner.
The Reds have a special talent with Brewster and Celtic could be the perfect place for the youngster to develop. But Liverpool should perhaps seek assurances from Rodgers before they sanction a deal given the way that Musonda’s stock has fallen significantly in recent months.
