Not that it speaks volumes, but Kieran Tierney has probably been Arsenal’s best player this season.
From September to now, the 23-year-old has easily been the Gunners’ most exciting and most consistent player.
Despite being a left-back, Tierney has also set up more goalscoring chances than any other Arsenal man this season.
Some of his good attacking work was wasted by his team-mates in the FA Cup win over Newcastle United tonight, after extra time.
It was a frustrating night for the North Londoners – and especially Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Reiss Nelson, both of whom fluffed good chances – but Tierney, as ever, maintained his solid standard.
Here’s what Rodney Marsh tweeted about the former Celtic star on social media:
It was clearly quite a tongue-in-cheek comment from the ‘Grumpy Pundit’ but the truth is that it wouldn’t be a big surprise if bigger clubs came looking at Tierney in the summer, particularly if Mikel Arteta’s side don’t win anything or qualify for the top four.
Both of those scenarios are very possible and the more Tierney continues to outshine most of his team-mates, the more unwanted attention he’ll get from Arsenal’s perspective.
