Rangers are trying to sign Kyle Lafferty before the transfer deadline and bring him back to Ibrox to supplement Steven Gerrard’s attack.

The Mail reported Rangers’ approach for Lafferty earlier this month, with Hearts so far rejecting their advances.

One of the issues for Hearts is whether they could manage to replace Lafferty at this late stage of the transfer window.

Perhaps help could be at hand from former Rangers forward Kenny Miller?

Miller is now a free agent after resigning from his player and manager role at Livingston early this week, BBC Sport reported.

Fans on Twitter have been speculating whether Miller could sign for Hearts, ultimately becoming Rangers’ bound Lafferty’s replacement.

Miller’s status as a free agent would give Hearts a back up plan in case Rangers make them an offer they can’t refuse for Lafferty on deadline day.

That is if Miller is not snapped up beforehand, with The Scotsman reporting St Mirren are already showing an interest.
