The Newcastle United man could be easier to snare than some of Middlesbrough’s alleged targets.
Middlesbrough are seeking a new goalkeeper this summer, if recent reports are to be believed.
Sheffield Wednesday’s Keiren Westwood [Sun and Daily Mirror] and Leeds United’s Robert Green [Yorkshire Post] have already been linked with moves to Garry Monk’s side, who have allowed Victor Valdes and Brad Guzan to leave.

But with Wednesday and Leeds likely to rival Boro for a place in the Premier League this coming campaign, prising away any of their key players could be a tough ask.
In a weird way, the Teessiers could have better look targeting players from the league above, and Newcastle United’s Karl Darlow could be a suitable option for Monk.
Newcastle are themselves in the market for a new number one, as reported by The Shields Gazette, which will likely push Darlow – along with Rob Elliot and Tim Krul – down the Magpies’ pecking order.
Reading certainly feel there’s a chance the Englishman could leave, with manager Jaap Stam confirming his interest via The Reading Chronicle on Wednesday.

But a transfer to Middlesbrough could work out far more convenient for Darlow, who wouldn’t have to move house and would – arguably – stand a better chance of an immediate return to the Premier League.
Nevertheless, any move will likely depend on Newcastle’s ability to land their preferred targets – and that’s been easier said that done so far.
