Newcastle United are said to be on course to sell Dwight Gayle for £20 million?

Newcastle United’s sale of Dwight Gayle could enable the Magpies to bring in both Joelinton and Ismaila Sarr this summer.

The Northern Echo claim that Newcastle are looking to sell Gayle for £20 million, which could boost their transfer budget to £80 million.

If Newcastle have that sort of money to spend then the additions of Joelinton and Sarr suddenly become accessible.

Sky Sports claim that Sarr is valued at just over £30 million by Rennes, while the Northern Echo say Joelinton will cost £40 million to buy from Hoffenheim.

As things stand Newcastle cannot afford the deal, but the sale of Gayle would enable them to do so.

Newcastle have told Rafael Benitez that he has £60 million to spend, as well as any money he raises from player sales (Telegraph).

Whether that will be too little to late to keep Benitez at Newcastle remains to be seen.

But the prospect of having an attack made up of Joelinton, Sarr and Miguel Almiron would surely make the prospect of staying at Newcastle more exciting for the Spanish boss.
