West Ham United winger Robert Snodgrass is said to be interesting Sunderland this summer.
Sunderland may just have a chance of getting their wish with Robert Snodgrass, as West Ham United close on signing Marko Arnautovic.
The Sun suggest that West Ham are set to sign Arnuatovic from Stoke City in the near future for a fee worth £24 million, and the Austrian’s arrival will force Snodgrass even further down the pecking order at the London Stadium.
Snodgrass only moved to West Ham in January, but a series of poor performances have seen his future heavily speculated about.
And the Telegraph suggest that Sunderland are one of the parties interested in signing Snodgrass.
Sunderland cannot afford to sign Snodgrass on a permanent deal, but they do want him on loan.
At the moment that transfer has little appeal to West Ham, but once Arnautovic arrives it could be more tempting.
West Ham will need to clear the decks following Arnautovic’s arrival, and that could mean getting rid of Snodgrass by any means possible becomes an attractive option.
Sunderland would be able to take on some of Snodgrass’ wages, which would reduce West Ham’s weekly expenditure.
And although the transfer of Snodgrass looked an unlikely one at first, Simon Grayson may now just have an outside chance of getting his wish.
