Nottingham Forest are all set to have a new manager in the form of ex-Rangers boss Mark Warburton. He looks likely to take over from Gary Brazil, who has been in temporary charge since the sacking of Philippe Montanier.

Warburton’s first challenge will be ensuring that Forest remain in the Championship, as they currently hover just two points ahead of Blackburn Rovers in the final relegation spot.

After that comes the summer, when he will want to put his own stamp on the team.

Warburton is known to favour bringing in players he has worked with before, so could they end Toumani Diagouraga’s forgettable Leeds United spell.

He has slipped down the pecking order at Leeds, with the signings of Liam Bridcutt and Eunan O-Kane not helped by the emergence of Ronaldo Vieira at Elland Road.

The French midfielder is currently out on loan at Ipswich Town but is a player Warburton knows well. He had the player at the youth team in Watford, as a first-teamer at Brentford and, as reported by getwestlondon back in January 2016, Warburton also wanted him at Rangers.

With his time at Leeds seemingly up Warburton might have the perfect opportunity to get his hands on the midfield destroyer yet again at the City Ground.

Forest could no doubt use a sturdy midfield influence and Diagouraga might be the perfect platform for an attacking style under their new management.
