West Ham United were linked with a summer swoop for Karim Benzema in the Spanish press last month.

If West Ham United do appoint Manuel Pellegrini, they may just have hope of completing one of the most unlikely transfers of the summer again.

At that stage, the rumours seemed farcical – as Benzema was seemingly well out of West Ham’s reach.
However, with Pellegrini said to be inching closer to take the job at the London Stadium, according to the Daily Mirror, the Benzema rumours may start up again.
Pellegrini was the man who signed Benzema for Madrid, back in 2009, and the pair have a great relationship.

Convincing Benzema to take the step down to join West Ham would still be a tough task for West Ham.
But if the Hammers ever have any hope of landing the French international it is surely if they do place Pellegrini in charge for next term.
