Southampton are one of the three Premier League sides currently chasing Napoli midfielder Allan.
According to a recent report from The Sun, Southampton are in the race to sign Napoli midfielder Allan, along with Premier League rivals West Brom and Newcastle.
With plenty of interest in the Brazilian, and The Sun suggesting that he is likely to be available for the appealing price of around £10 million, the Saints may feel that they could need any advantage they can get if they hope to win the race for the 26-year-old’s signature.
Allan
So perhaps the start to life that one of Allan’s former teammates has made since arriving at St Mary’s may help Mauricio Pellegrino’s men.
Manolo Gabbiadini was brought to Southampton during the last January transfer window from Stadio San Paolo, and enjoyed a blistering start to life in England.
The 25-year-old scored six times in his first four games for the Saints – including a brace in the League Cup final defeat to Manchester United, that could have been a hat-trick had the official not ruled him to be offside when he, staying onside, found the back of the net for the first time in the game at Wembley – and perhaps that run may have been noticed by Allan.
Watching his old teammate thrive at a certain club – though his end to the campaign was a lot less spectacular – may perhaps tempt the midfielder to consider the chance to make the same move, and link up with a player he knows well, as an excellent opportunity if he is open to leaving Serie A.
