As Andrew Robertson enjoys Champions League success with Liverpool could Celtic’s Kieran Tierney be tempted to try to do the same at Manchester United?

Kieran Tierney insists he is not jealous of fellow Scot Andrew Robertson’s Champions League success with Liverpool this season.

The Celtic left-back has watched his international teammate play a key role as the Reds have reached the semi-finals of the competition and take a big step towards the final after beating Roma 5-2 in the first-leg.

“It was a massive, massive game. It’s a Champions League semi-final and he did brilliant,” Tierney told the Scotsman.

“It was a great performance from him and he’s been great this season, he deserves to be there, but for me when I was younger, it was Celtic.

“If you want to play in the Champions League you play in it with Celtic and that’s just the way it has been for me.”

Will Tierney want more in Europe?

It is sure to be heartening to Bhoys fans that their exciting academy product has once again pledged his commitment to the club he has supported since he was a boy.

It could be that simply playing for the Hoops will always be enough to satisfy Tierney, but watching Robertson display such fine European form as the Glasgow side continue to struggle on the continent could well grate at some point in the future.

Celtic have returned to the Champions League for the past two years since Brendan Rodgers became manager, but were eliminated at the group stage again this term and were then knocked out of the Europa League last-32 by Zenit St. Petersburg.

Meanwhile, as outlined by ESPN, Manchester United continue to show interest in Tierney as their search for a new left-back continues and have a much more prestigious recent history in Europe’s biggest club competition.
