Rangers star Sean Goss is the talk of the Scottish Premiership and they want to sign him at Ibrox permanently. How easy will it really be for boss Graeme Murty?

Sean Goss’ spell at Rangers is going better than anybody could have expected so far, with the midfielder becoming a real fan favourite at Ibrox.
Goss scored for Rangers against St Johnstone in midweek, prompting vociferous calls from Gers fans online for the club to sign him permanently.
The 22-year-old is at loan at Rangers from QPR, but hovering in the background are Goss’ former club Manchester United.
United let Goss leave in January 2017 but it was a begrudging departure.
While the Red Devils were believers in his talent, there was no pathway to the first team for him.
So they let Goss join QPR, and inserted a buy back clause into his contract, The Mirror reported.
The report read: “United have also insisted on a buy-back clause for a player they do not want to lose, but who is keen to experience first team football at this stage of his career.”

Goss did not flourish at QPR, perhaps down to him, perhaps a lack of chances, but at Rangers he has seized his opportunity and is dominating games.
Rangers understandably want to sign him permanently, but this will be on United’s radar as they would have to be informed of negotiations to see whether they want to invoke the clause to bring him back to Old Trafford.
If he signs with Rangers, then the opportunity in the short term will be gone for United.
Perhaps it is a stretch to think Goss could jump from the Scottish Premiership to United’s first team. Goss though may simply want the opportunity to compete for places.
With his idol Michael Carrick likely to retire this summer and Marouane Fellaini’s contract expiring, there could be a space in United’s ranks for the youngster.

Goss has plenty more to prove still, and a big performance against Celtic later this month will help his cause.
The smart money would be on him joining Rangers permanently, with the Gers seeing enough already to know they want him at Ibrox for good.
The better he plays between now and May, the more chance there is of United sitting up and taking notice, and scuppering their hopes.
