Mourinho has just extended his stay at Old Trafford by a further year until 2020, but when the Portuguese does depart they want Pochettino to succeed him.

Carlo Ancelotti and Juventus boss Max Allegri are also being considered by the Red Devils’ hierarchy, but it is the current Spurs chief who they want the most.
Pochettino’s ability to develop young talent is what really impresses United and now they hope they can tempt the Argentine to leave Tottenham for them.

Which, if history is anything to go by, could be as soon as 2019 as Mourinho is yet to spend more than three successive years at any club during his career.
Some would point to the fact that that the 55-year-old has just signed a new deal as to why he will break that mould this time, but then he left Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid in the past just 12 months after putting pen to paper on a new contract.
