Aston Villa currently have Axel Tuanzebe on loan from Manchester United.

According to a report in the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are prepared to bid for Toby Alderweireld in the summer – and that could have implications for Aston Villa.

Villa have brought in Axel Tuanzebe from United on loan until the end of the season, with the prospect looking for more game time.

And Villa may actually have a chance of bringing him in on a permanent transfer, if United are to sign Alderweireld.

The Belgian centre-back would surely go straight into the Red Devils’ starting line-up, if he was to arrive at Old Trafford.

And United’s centre-back options would be so vast, that Tuanzebe could struggle to see a route into Jose Mourinho’s line-up.

A permanent move to Villa, therefore, could become appealing – particularly if Steve Bruce’s side are promoted.

Tuanzebe has started Villa’s last two matches, and while the claret and blues haven’t won on either occasion, he has still managed to show his class.

Tuanzebe is actually out injured at the weekend, but if he breaks back into Villa’s side, then a switch to the Midlands could appeal on a more long-term basis in the summer.
