If Manchester United sign Celtic’s Kieran Tierney instead of Danny Rose could that be the best possible outcome for Tottenham Hotspur?

Candeias of Rangers vies with Kieran Tierney of Celtic during the Rangers v Celtic Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match at Ibrox Stadium on March 11, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Manchester United are considering a move for Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney as a cheaper alternative to Danny Rose of Tottenham Hotspur, according to the Mirror.

The report says that the Red Devils could sign Tierney for £25million, which makes the 20-year-old a more attractive prospect as Rose would cost double that.

Good news for Spurs?

Rose has been linked with an exit from Tottenham ever since giving an interview to the Sun last August in which the England international complained about the wage structure and transfer policy at the club and admitted he would be open to a move North.

With the 27-year-old having been injured for much of the season he has been limited to just 13 appearances in all competitions, with Ben Davies stepping into his role and impressing.

It has lead many to believe that the North Londoners could cope without Rose and could cash in on the full-back and bring in a younger player to give competition to Davies.

However, if a move to Old Trafford is off it is difficult to see where the defender would go instead and once fit again perhaps keeping him at Spurs would not be such a bad thing.

After all, Rose was named in the 2016/17 PFA Team of the Year after a hugely impressive campaign and when at his best there are arguably none better in his position in the entire division – including Davies.
