The Manchester United duo are wanted by Everton and the Toffees forward would go down a storm at Old Trafford.

The January transfer window may still be around six weeks away but that has not stopped the rumours going into overdrive, with a number of Manchester United players linked with the exit.

Two such players are Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin, both of whom have been strongly linked with Everton in recent days, with the Mirror claiming Toffees boss Ronald Koeman would love to bring the pair to Goodison Park.

Given their lack of game time at Old Trafford, such a move is not beyond the realms of possibility, but United may be unwilling to sanction permanent exits for the duo quite so soon, especially if Depay replicates his best form on Merseyside.

So could there be an alternative, which sees the United players head to Everton on loan in 2017 before a potentially huge move the following summer?

After all, United need goals and Everton have a goal-scorer extraordinaire in the form of Romelu Lukaku.

There is no way Everton will part company with the Belgian international in January, but could United offer Depay, Schneiderlin and cash to secure Lukaku’s signature the following August?

If the Dutchman and the French international excel on loan it could set something very interesting in motion for United fans.

It would be a big ask, and United would still have to add cash to the offer, but if United return to the Champions League and want to add more fire-power to their squad, Lukaku could be the perfect option with two players heading the other way.
