Sky Sports claims that Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli is likely to sign with super agent Jorge Mendes.

And that could be bad news for Mauricio Pochettino’s hopes of clinging onto all of his star players.

Alli is expected to switch agents next year when his contract with Impact Sports expires, and Mendes is the frontrunner to sign the 21-year-old to his Gestifute agency, according to Sky Sports.

Although Alli is already tied down until 2022, Spurs hope to get the England international signed to improved terms before he falls under the influence of Mendes, who has overseen some of football’s biggest ever transfers.

Mendes has close ties to Manchester United and Real Madrid as he represents both Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo, and is expected to tout Spurs midfielder Alli to both clubs, according to The Mirror.

But could Manchester City try to use their own connections to Mendes to sign Alli for themselves?

Mendes represents City trio Nicolas Otamendi, Bernardo Silva and Ederson, the latter two of whom moved to the Etihad Stadium as recently as last summer, so clearly they have a good working relationship.

Pep Guardiola raided Spurs for full-back Kyle Walker last summer and City have the financial muscle to test their resolve to keep Alli despite his importance to the Pochettino project in North London.
