The Leeds United pair are proving their worth out on loan.
Leeds United have a number of exciting players coming through the ranks right now, but two of the very best are excelling on loan in the form of Mallik Wilks and Lewie Coyle.
Wilks has made a name for himself as a super sub at Accrington Stanley, scoring vital goals after coming off the bench against Notts County and Chesterfield, while Coyle has excelled at Fleetwood Town, regularly being crowned man-of-the-match and proving he has the quality to ultimately shine at Elland Road.
While loan spells do not always go according to plan, in the case of the Leeds pair they have featured regularly and quickly set about impressing their parent club, to such an extent that they may have sent a message to the Whites’ current crop of under-23s.
After all, the second string will understand just how hard it is to break into Leeds’ first-team, especially after an impressive summer recruitment drive, and now with Coyle and Wilks making their mark elsewhere, those left behind may wonder where their chance is coming from.
In time they too could head out on loan, but the young Leeds pair have laid down quite a marker, not only playing regularly but impressing considerably in the process.
As a result, the latest Leeds loans could inadvertently force the club’s next wave of talent to significantly up their own games in the months ahead.
