Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho could be the perfect solution to Crystal Palace’s defensive woes.
The Eagles are currently in the midst of a woeful run of form that has seen them plummet down the Premier League table.
Their shambolic defending from set-pieces has cost them on numerous occasions so far this season, and with the January transfer window just around the corner, Alan Pardew should make the signing of a proven centre-back one of his main priorities.
Yesterday, Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp admitted to reporters that the club would be open to selling Mamadou Sakho, as he is not currently part of the first-team squad at Anfield, as quoted by the Guardian:

“Now you know, I said it: he is not in these plans for the first team. The first-team squad is here [at the training ground]. Do you really think I would have said Sakho will not be sold in winter? Nothing changed.”
Palace should target the 26-year-old former Paris Saint-Germain man, and despite his obvious flaws from an attitude perspective, he would undoubtedly add both quality and experience to Pardew’s backline.
Standing at 6 ft 2 in, Sakho is physically imposing, has fantastic aerial ability, and is fairly quick along the ground. He possesses all the essential ingredients needed to be a world-class centre-back.

There has obviously been questions raised over his commitment levels in training and all-round attitude, but maybe a fresh start at a new club is precisely what he needs to help reinvigorate his career.
Sakho’s contract with the Reds is not due to expire until the summer of 2020, and despite Klopp’s apparent eagerness to sell the France international, he would most probably still command a fairly substantial transfer fee.
Should a move for Sakho come to fruition, it could be the transfer which helps Palace maintain their Premier League status come May.
