Nottingham Forest want a right-back and are targeting West Ham’s Sam Byram, but should they consider Danny Simpson now the Leicester defender is available?

Nottingham Forest are “actively seeking” a new right-back before the transfer window closes, reports Sky Sports, with manager Aitor Karanka admitting West Ham United’s Sam Byram is on their watchlist.
“He is one on the list. He is a West Ham player and we are not in a hurry,” Karanka said.
“We have another few days to try to buy someone and another two or three weeks to try and bring someone in on loan.”
Byram is behind Pablo Zabaleta and new signing Ryan Fredericks for a place at right-back and therefore a departure from the London Stadium looks likely.
The 24-year-old has managed just 36 appearances for the Hammers since joining from Leeds United in January 2016 and has failed to make the desired impact in East London.
Yet while Byram is clearly an attractive prospect for Karanka, could the Spaniard be tempted by a more experienced option who has also just come on the market.
The Sun claims that Danny Simpson’s future as a Leicester City player looks to be over a little over two years after winning the Premier League title with the Foxes.

This comes after Leicester boss Claude Puel admitted that he doesn’t view Simpson as an option in his first team plans and is deciding between Daniel Amartey and new signing Ricardo Pereira as to who will start the new season on the right side of defence.
“With Danny Simpson, I made a choice and, for the moment, we play with Ricardo and Amartey,” Puel said.
In contrast to Byram, Simpson has played a key role for 2015/16 English champions since joining them from QPR and also already has plenty of experience at Championship level, having won promotion three times.
