Could Leeds United’s stance on Sergi Canos paint clearer picture of Hadi Sacko’s future?

Leeds United have been linked with the young winger but do they need him?

According to a recent report from the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United are interested in signing Norwich City winger Sergi Canos on loan this month.

With Brentford reportedly ready to splash the cash for a permanent deal, Leeds are understandably reluctant to part with a reported £3million for a teenager with limited first-team experience.

That said, Canos is the real deal, as his loan spell at the Bees and sporadic showings for Norwich prove, and it will be interesting to see if Leeds sit back and watch him head elsewhere or change their stance in a bid to seal the deal.

That could well be determined by the long-term future of Hadi Sacko, who is currently on loan at Leeds from Sporting Lisbon.

After all, Sacko is Leeds’ current first-choice right winger and if they intend on making his temporary move permanent at the end of the season, a big-money move for Canos would make little sense.

Alternatively, if Sacko is one of the Whites’ loanees not to remain beyond May, Canos would be the ideal replacement; a player both young enough and talented enough to become an Elland Road favourite in the years ahead.

Sacko will not come cheap, but he has shown his undeniable ability in a Leeds shirt and what the club do regarding Canos could paint a very distinct picture of the Frenchman’s future.
