Tottenham Hotspur have already secured the futures of one of Leeds United’s brightest talents in Jack Clarke, but should the Yorkshire club look at Spurs’ academy for one of their faltering wonderkids?
The Daily Mail previously claimed that Tottenham’s academy product Marcus Edwards is among a number of players they have decided to open offers to.
The winger shouldn’t hesitate in picking Leeds United, and in particular Marcelo Bielsa, as his next destination.
There will be quite a few Spurs fans who will be keen to see the versatile Edwards stay at the club because they’ll still feel he still has a lot to offer.
He hasn’t exactly hit the heights that were expected of him when he was a teenager, but he is beginning to mature, on and off the pitch.
But with the 20-year-old seemingly being available, a coach like Bielsa and a club like Leeds would allow his talents to be fulfilled.
Leeds have a plethora of attacking talent already at their disposal, but in terms of the medium to long term future, Edwards would be a fantastic purchase for them.
Pochettino is regarded as one of the best coaches in the top-tier, but if he has to part ways with Edwards for one reason or another then moving to the Championship would be ideal.
Edwards still has the talents, but regular game time is needed, and many young English players have proven in that past that plying your trade in the English Football League can do wonders to your career.
Perhaps Edwards should use that as his next step because even though Leeds have now built some depth in the attacking third, more fresh legs, more quality and more versatility would only make them stronger ahead of the new campaign.
