The vultures are ready to descend on Elland Road after Leeds United failed to secure their place in next season’s Premier League.
According to reports, there has been interest in key players Chris Wood, Pontus Jansson and Charlie Taylor already, but which other players should Whites fans be worried about losing as the summer window approaches?

Why would other clubs want him?
Any member of a defence which has been the fourth tightest in the Championship is bound to attract interest. Jansson, Taylor and Kyle Bartley all have, and it’s plausible that Ayling could be next. Able to play equally well at right- or centre-back, strong and not afraid to bomb on, the former Arsenal trainee would be a solid recruit for any club at that level – and some in the league above.
Who might be interested?
There aren’t many Championship clubs left who are big enough to prise players away from Leeds United, although an approach from any of those on their way up would perhaps require some resistance. Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion could both be in the market for right-backs this summer, along with established top flight sides Everton, West Ham United, Crystal Palace and Southampton, if Cedric Soares leaves. Ayling would not look out of place at any.

Which is his most likely destination?
Newcastle or Brighton. Neither DeAndre Yedlin nor Jesus Gamez have been able to tie down a regular place in Rafa Benitez’s team, while Vurnon Anita is out of contract. The Seagulls’ options currently consist of Bruno Saltor (36) and Leroy Rosenior (32), so they may want someone a bit younger.

How much would he cost?
With two years left on his deal, Leeds could demand full-whack should any approach come in. In today’s market, a top end Championship right-back will probably set you back between £5 million and £8 million – either way, a significant profit for the Whites.
