According to The Sun, Leeds United are in a battle with Huddersfield Town to sign Sverrir Ingason.
Granada centre-back Ingason is available for £2 million, due to a clause in his contract.
And Leeds are said to be very interested in bringing the Icelandic international to Elland Road.
Leeds will have to beat off competition from Huddersfield to sign the powerful defender, but are optimistic that a deal could be done.
However, while Ingason’s arrival at Leeds would improve their defensive options, it could also put an end to the Whites’ supporters hopes of signing Kyle Bartley from Swansea City.
Bartley spent last season on loan at Leeds, and he formed a hugely impressive partnership with Pontus Jansson.
Leeds fans had hoped that Bartley would return to Yorkshire this summer, as covered by HITC, but if Ingason arrives then that switch will surely be off.
Bartley is set to cost a large fee, and Leeds are highly unlikely to invest big money into signing two centre-backs this summer.
