Leeds United are said to have been keen on the Bolton Wanderers youngster previously.
The Telegraph reported last week that Bolton Wanderers could be forced into administration unless an agreement is reached between co-owners Ken Anderson and Dean Holdsworth, which would see the former gain sole control of the club.
But amid all the uncertainty – it was also alleged that Bolton’s players were belatedly paid in November – things are going fairly swimmingly from a footballing point of view, with the Trotters winning eight of their last nine League One matches and securing their place in the FA Cup third round on Sunday.
At the heart of that run has been the form of homegrown striker Zach Clough, who has scored six goals in his last eight league outings. These sort of runs tend to be bittersweet for clubs in Bolton’s predicament, however, not least with the January transfer window fast approaching.

According to the Daily Mail on Monday, Clough has impressed a number of Premier League and Championship scouts of late and it is claimed the right offer could tempt Bolton into a sale.
So are Leeds United one of them? And should they be if not? The Whites are one of several sides listed as previous suitors by by the Mail after all and, by their own manager’s admission, are in the market for a new striker this winter.

Although going strong in the Championship, Garry Monk’s strike force is low on both numbers and goals – Chris Wood aside – with Marcus Antonsson and Souleymane Doukara mustering just four in 35 combined appearances, and 21-year-old Clough could be just the man to freshen things up at Leeds.
Not only does Bolton’s plight make Clough a potential bargain for the Whites, he is buoyed by momentum and poses little threat to the new-found harmony at Elland Road.
Leeds taking another club’s prized youngster? Well that would be a nice change.
