Australia star Aaron Mooy lit up Huddersfield Town – but could Jeggo have the same impact as his compatriot at Leeds United?

The last Australian midfielder to arrive in Yorkshire proved to be one of the most inspired signings in recent Championship history. Aaron Mooy went from Melbourne City to Huddersfield Town in the summer of 2016, joining The Terriers on loan from the A-League side’s sister club Manchester City.
A year later, he was sealing his permanent transfer to the John Smith’s Stadium for a then-club record fee of £10 million (BBC) after a series of influential performances from the centre of midfield inspired Huddersfield to promotion to the Premier League for the first time in their history.
Leeds, then, will be hoping that Mooy’s compatriot James Jeggo can have a similar impact in the North of England. The Mail reported last week that Leeds, Middlesbrough and Hull City are all hot on the trail of the Sturm Graz star, who is out of contract at the end of this season.

Aussie example
Mooy was a fully fledged Australian international when arriving in Huddersfield but Jeggo has not yet won a senior cap. Like the former St Mirren youngster, however, Jeggo is a dynamic and technically gifted midfielder who should, on paper, adapt to the speed and intensity of the English second tier.
Though the 25-year-old would have a lot to live up to if he follows Mooy to England with Huddersfield’s bitter Yorkshire rivals.

Mooy was arguably the most influential midfielder in the Championship last season, even scoring a stunning winner against Leeds in the early stages of the 2016/17 season.
Jeggo, meanwhile, would hope to follow in Mooy’s footsteps and evolve from a rather unknown and under-the-radar import into a player lighting up the Premier League in the space of just 12 months.
