The midfielder allegedly wants a permanent move to Leeds United following his successful loan stint.
According to a report from the Yorkshire Evening Post, Sunderland midfielder Liam Bridcutt is intent on heading back to Leeds United this summer following a succesful loan stint last term.
While the twice-capped Scotland international remains a Black Cat for now, could his Elland Road return be an unlikely parting gift from former manager Steve Evans?
After all, it was Evans who brought the 27-year-old to Leeds in what proved to be a fine piece of business, with Bridcutt instantly impressing in the heart of the Whites’ midfield and giving them the additional steel and experience their relatively young side needed.
And if Bridcutt is desperate to return to Yorkshire despite interest from elsewhere, Evans deserves some credit after taking a risk on a player who had become a forgotten man at Sunderland and ensuring he left Elland Road with great memories of his brief spell.
Evans enjoyed a succesful time at Leeds but under Monk the Championship side are expected to mount a serious promotion push this time out.
To do that they need to strengthen in key areas and while the likes of Kemar Roofe, Kyle Bartley and Marcus Antonsson look like good purchases Leeds also need a quality midfielder.
Bridcutt is that man, but without that initial call from Evans, the odds of Leeds signing him permanently would have been considerably slimmer.
