Could Leeds United coax Burnley into selling Ashley Barnes?

You could forgive Ashley Barnes if he wanted to leave Burnley in January.
The 27-year-old forward has played 127 minutes of Premier League football across seven games this season.
Leeds United fans wanted Barnes in a player-plus-cash deal for Chris Wood in the summer and although it never materialised, could the Whites sign him in January?

You need only consider the fact that he averages 18 minutes per Premier League game to know that he is not a hugely-important member of Sean Dyche’s squad and you wonder whether the Clarets boss could offload him for the right price.
Seventh in the table, Dyche’s side seem to be going in a new direction entirely and the likes of Barnes could be left behind.

He scored six Premier League goals in 20 starts last season but Barnes is no longer a key figure at Turf Moor – but he could be at Elland Road.
The former Brighton ace has helped the Lancashire club to two top-flight promotions and a man with that sort of experience isn’t bad to have around the changing room.
He is contracted to the club until 2019.
