The midfielder is said to be keen to remain where he is until the summer, at which point Leeds United would be wise to make a move.
According to recent comments from Alexandru Maxim’s agent (published by Stuttgarter Nachrichten), there has been initial contact with Leeds United regarding a potential switch, but the player is keen to wait until the end of the season to move on.
Given Pablo Hernandez’s presence at Elland Road, a short-term move for the Romanian play-maker is not necessary, but if Leeds do ultimately get their man in the close-season it could be as a direct replacement for Hadi Sacko.
After all, along with Matt Grimes, Sacko is the loanee least likely to remain at Leeds next season – not because of his impact but because of the money it is likely to take to force through a deal.
If that is the case and Leeds are left short in wide areas, they could do a lot worse than play Maxim out wide and Hernandez behind Chris Wood.

After all, while Maxim is an attacking midfielder by trade he is comfortable on either wing and he has played the majority of this season on the flank.
Two goals and five assists in 18 appearances for Stuttgart is a decent if unremarkable return but there is no doubting Maxim’s talent, and if Leeds do ultimately secure a deal in the summer it would considerably ease the disappointment of Sacko’s likely exit.
