Leeds United might be in trouble if Ben White is designed to be Pontus Jansson’s replacement.

Well, Pontus Jansson appears to be on his way out of Leeds United.

According to The Yorkshire Evening Post, Jansson is the subject of a £5.5 million offer from an ‘unnamed Championship club’ and he looks set to leave Elland Road.

He was a big player for Marcelo Bielsa last term and the Leeds boss will no doubt need a replacement. Unless, of course, the Whites haven’t already replaced him.

United signed a lot of players earlier this week, ranging from high-profile players joining on loan such as Helder Costa, to low-profile youngsters joining on a permanent basis.

But there is one or two in the grey area, a low-profile player on loan, and one of these is Ben White. Leeds signed the Brighton & Hove Albion centre-back for the 2019-20 season, and could he be the surprise Jansson replacement?

That would be the narrative if White was signed after this revelation about Jansson, but the higher-ups in West Yorkshire must’ve known that the Swedish defender wouldn’t be staying and therefore it’s definitely possible that the 21-year-old is his replacement.

But should he be? Definitely not. White might be a brilliant defender but, then again, he may not be. He is unproven in the Championship, and replacing a Championship-hardened player like Jansson with White would be a massive gamble.

If and when the former Torino star leaves Leeds, Bielsa and Victor Orta will need a proper replacement.
