Aston Villa-owned midfielder Gary Gardner worked with Leeds United head coach Paul Heckingbottom at Barnsley.

According to The Sunday People (print edition, page 53, May 6, 2018), Aston Villa central midfielder Gary Gardner is attracting offers from clubs in the Championship, having impressed on loan at Barnsley during the 2017-18 campaign.
Barnsley have been relegated to the Championship, but the performances of Gardner have been quite impressive.

The 25-year-old central midfielder has made 28 starts and one substitute appearance for Villa in the league this campaign, scoring two goals and providing two assists in the process.
Having worked with current Leeds United head coach Paul Heckingbottom at Barnsley, perhaps the Whites could be interested in the 25-year-old and could be one of the Championship clubs (reportedly) looking at him.
After all, it was Heckingbottom who signed Gardner for Barnsley on loan from Villa in the summer of 2017.

Leeds could do with an experienced midfielder in their squad next season, and it would not be a bad idea to sign the 25-year-old in the summer transfer window.
The former England Under-21 international may have failed to do much of note at Villa, but the 25-year-old central midfielder would be a good signing for Leeds at the right price as he knows the Championship inside out and has proven himself in the division.
