The Glasgow Rangers defender was slammed for his last performance.
In a recent interview with the club’s official website, Rangers interim boss Graeme Murty admitted that he was monitoring an injury suffered by Lee Hodson, with the 26-year-old nursing a bruised foot, and one wonders if the player would be better off out of the spotlight after his horror show last weekend.
Hodson covered at left-back in the absence of Gers teammates Declan John and Lee Wallace, but he flattered to deceive throughout and on that evidence alone Rangers are surely better off without him.
He may have been playing out of position and returning following a prolonged spell out of the team, but Rangers fans would have expected more, as would Murty, and there will be plenty of supporters hoping the bruised foot he suffered in that match rules him out of Friday’s clash with Dundee.
Murty has given some Rangers players a new lease of life but even he will struggle to get the best out of Hodson.
The Northern Ireland international is not up to the task and his loss would not be keenly felt by a side that should be giving youth a chance when their strongest options are not available.
Murty may not know when his last match will come, with the Rangers board delaying a permanent appointment as the search goes on, but he will not be missing much if Hodson is ultimately ruled out this week.
