The Glasgow Rangers defender is not up to the task.
While many of Rangers’ players came in for criticism following their 2-0 defeat to Hamilton Academical last weekend, one suffered more than most, with full-back Lee Hodson blasted for failing to have any positive impact on the clash.
The 26-year-old was called on for only the fourth time in the league this season and one wonders if Gers fans may have already seen the last of him in the club’s colours.
With Declan John recovering from a bout of flu, and club captain Lee Wallace getting close to a return after injury, the prospect of Hodson playing on the left again this season seems unlikely, while James Tavernier has made the right-back slot his own.
Of course injuries and suspensions will play their part. However interim boss Graeme Murty has likely seen enough, while whoever replaces Pedro Caixinha as Rangers’ next permanent manager will have January targets of his own.
Then there are the youngsters coming through the ranks at Ibrox, with Myles Beerman a far better long-term option than Hodson.
Rangers have a few players they would do well to save goodbye to and Hodson is near the front of that particular clue, with few managers likely to opt for the under-performing international when there are other, better options available.
