The Everton manager is under huge pressure but things could be so different if he could call on the injured pair.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman was given considerable funds to spend in the summer and he duly obliged, bringing in the players he felt could take the Toffees to the next level.

Unfortunately for the Dutchman, things have not gone according to plan this season, with a poor run of for leaving Everton 16th in the Premier League with seven points from a possible 21.

As a result, tension is rising and suggestions are growing that Koeman could be on his way out sooner rather than later, but if the Dutchman does leave Goodison Park this side of Christmas, could his successor benefit in a way he cannot, with the return of two players that could change everything on Merseyside.

Seamus Coleman and Yannick Bolasie are recovering from long-term injuries but the duo could significantly improve Everton’s starting XI when they return.

Coleman would replace the much-maligned Cuco Martina while Bolasie’s pace on the wing could ensure Everton finally have the speed they have been lacking so far this season.

Koeman would have signed new players knowing what was possible when he had his full squad to choose from, knowing that the likes of Sandro Ramirez and Wayne Rooney could flourish ahead of Bolasie.

The added pace on both flanks would also ease the pressure on Gylfi Sigurdsson, who can create something out of nothing but usually while standing still.

If Everton continue to struggle, the board has a big decision to make, and one wonders if Koeman will ultimately rue the absence of the pair if they return too late to save his job.
