The Tottenham Hotspur youngster has been used sparingly to date.

While Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-1 victory against Real Madrid this week will go down in Spurs folklore, there was a minor blow with the news that Toby Alderweireld looks set for a brief spell on the side-lines.
However, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino’s summer business catered for such circumstances and the Belgian’s loss could be a recent addition’s gain.

Juan Foyth has been used sparingly to date, managing just two EFL Cup appearances prior to Tottenham’s elimination last month.
That could have left the Argentine with a significant gap between his second appearance and his third. However, with Alderweireld injured and Totteham favouring three centre-backs this season, Foyth could get a chance either from the start of from the bench in the coming weeks, ensuring his Premier League debut comes a little sooner than first thought.

There is no doubting the summer signing’s quality, with the 19-year-old impressing against Barnsley despite struggling to contain a resurgent West Ham in the second half of their fourth round clash, and it will be interesting to see what happens in the weeks ahead.
Eric Dier could step into the starting XI as a defender but that weakens Tottenham’s midfield. But only Pochettino knows if Foyth is ready for the challenges of league action so soon after his arrival.
