Leeds United should look at Jota if Stuart Dallas leaves Elland Road.
Worryingly for Leeds United, Chris Wood might not be the last high-profile player to leave Elland Road this summer as The Yorkshire Post report that Norwich City are interested in signing winger Stuart Dallas before the window shuts.
The 26-year-old winger looks a man reborn under Thomas Christiansen, having endured a frustrating, below-par season under Garry Monk last time around.
Losing him would be a blow for Leeds – a big one – but Director of Football Victor Orta would make it better by signing Brentford winger Jota.
Sky Sports have reported that the Spanish winger is available for around £8 million, and the Whites, who have twice that amount after selling Wood to Burnley, should definitely enter the race if Dallas does join Norwich.
The 26-year-old scored 12 times in 19 Championship starts for the Bees last season and already has three assists in as many games this season. As a result, speculation about his future is understandable, but Leeds have the money – and perhaps the pull – to sign him.
Early days, but it looks like United – fifth in the Championship, four points off the leaders Cardiff and Ipswich – will have a much better chance of promotion than Brentford, who sit bottom of the table with one point.
The Elland Road club would have to beat off competition from a number of other Championship sides – and Premier League outfit West Ham – but if the Irons fail to make a move then Leeds is as good a destination as any.
