Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers courted criticism for their paltry offer for the 23-year-old in January.
This Saturday, Jordan Jones could come up against Rangers for the first time since the Gers tried and failed to bring him to Ibrox in January.
The Glasgow giants submitted £350,000 (Scottish Sun) for the Kilmarnock winger in an offer which manager Steve Clarke said was “nowhere near acceptable”.
It did seem a little on the low side it must be said, but Jones could make that offer look even more ridiculous with a brilliant performance against Graeme Murty’s side this weekend.
James Tavernier has been one of the best players in Scottish football this season and it would speak volumes for Jones’s potential if the 23-year-old can give a right-back of that stature a difficult time at Ibrox- and he just might.
Jones, who has four Premiership goals this season, is a man bang in form and won plenty of praise for his performance in the 2-0 win over St Johnstone last week.
Not many have gotten the better of Tavernier this season, but if Jones joins that limited list at the weekend then surely it wouldn’t be a good look for Murty and Director of Football Mark Allen, after the January offer.
