Glasgow Rangers have been linked with bringing both Steven Davis and Jordan Jones to Ibrox in recent months.

When Steven Gerrard considers what international matches he wants to watch during this break, it would hardly be a surprise if the Rangers boss decided to spend some time monitoring Northern Ireland’s games.
Michael O’Neill’s men face Republic of Ireland today before hosting Austria on Sunday, and within his squad are two current Gers stars who have not had the easiest time recently.
Kyle Lafferty has only featured twice for Gerrard’s men since the last break and started on neither occasion. Meanwhile, Gareth McAuley is only just breaking into the side after arriving on a free transfer in the summer.
Gerrard will surely want to see how they get on in Northern Ireland’s two games. But he may have another reason to watch O’Neill’s men in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Teamtalk reported in the summer that Kilmarnock winger Jordan Jones was on Rangers’ radar. It is not clear whether he is still a player that Gerrard would be interested in, but he is an extremely talented winger and the Gers may have to think about replacing Ryan Kent when his loan spell ends.

With the two men also involved in Northern Ireland’s squad, Gerrard may want to have a look ahead of January, especially as both men will be looking to create openings for Lafferty when he is involved.
It is, of course, unlikely that any January decisions will be made off the back of one or two performances, but these next few days could certainly help Gerrard when he considers who he wants to bring in to Ibrox in the next window or in the summer.
