Jonathan Kodjia is edging closer to an Aston Villa return, after four months on the sidelines.

According to the Express and Star, Jonathan Kodjia could make his Aston Villa comeback in a behind closed door friendly match in the coming week.

Kodjia has been out for the last four months with an ankle, but he could be coming back at the perfect time for Villa.

The Ivorian will have eight games to get up to speed, before the play off starts.

And while it is not a foregone conclusion that Villa will be in the play offs, it looks highly likely, given the distance they have fallen behind the top two.

If Steve Bruce’s side can get Kodjia back to full health before the end of the campaign it would be a major boost to their chances of gaining promotion.

Kodjia is Villa’s best striking option, and Bruce’s side will look an even more threatening proposition with him involved.

Kodjia has missed so much of this campaign that he should be fresh, and if he can gain match sharpness, he could be the weapon that Villa need to push them over the line as they look to return to the Premier League.
