Everton have been quiet in the transfer market, but could that be about to change?
Everton’s John Stones
So far this summer Everton have been fairly reserved in the transfer market – with just goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg arriving for the first-team squad.
The main reason for this is likely not knowing who is staying at the club.
Everton’s Romelu Lukaku in action with West Ham’s Reece Oxford
Central defender John Stones and striker Romelu Lukaku are both being linked with exits this month. According to reports Everton want £50 million and £75 million respectively for the pair with Manchester City and Chelsea known to be interested.
It is unlikely that Everton will get exactly those fees for each player but will likely get close enough. Those fees combined make a grand total of £125 million – a fair bit of change to spend in the market.
New Everton investor Farhad Moshiri in the stands
Also, when Ronald Koeman got the Everton job, it was reported that Everton had offered him a £100 million transfer kitty – as reported by the Mirror – courtesy of Farhad Moshiri’s investment in the club.
If all this is accurate then Everton could have around £225 million to spend throughout August to strengthen the squad. If it is not bang on accurate, then still the sale of Stones and Lukaku should give Everton a transfer kitty of around £200 million.
Some fairly good redevelopment money.
