Glasgow Rangers loanee Joe Worrall has been an unused substitute for the Ibrox side’s last two games.

After sticking with a centre-back pairing of Connor Goldson and Joe Worrall for much of the season, Steven Gerrard made a popular change ahead of Rangers’ win at Motherwell by bringing Nikola Katic back into the starting lineup to replace the latter.
Worrall had a knock leading up to the game, but Katic vindicated his selection with a superb performance as the Gers kept a clean sheet. Unsurprisingly, he kept his place for the trip to Hearts at the weekend.
And the summer signing produced another excellent display as Rangers strolled to another three points. Katic may have felt the pressure ahead of his recall having seen his popularity increase while he was not playing, but he showed exactly why the fans have taken to the Croatian.
Katic has taken his chance superbly. And with four games of the campaign remaining, perhaps it may be fair to ask whether Worrall has potentially already played his final game for the Light Blues before he returns to parent club Nottingham Forest in the summer.

Worrall has struggled to win all of the supporters over during his time at Ibrox. There have been some colossal performances, but there have also been shaky moments and mistakes which led for calls for Katic’s return to grow extremely loud.
And with Katic now seemingly back in possession of the shirt, Gerrard may decide to focus on those who are set to be at Rangers next season. As things stand, Katic will be, while Worrall will not.

Given that there has not been much to pick between the two, leaving Worrall out for the four remaining games will not hurt Rangers too much. Some will argue strongly that Katic is the better of the two anyway.
And with a week between each of their last four fixtures, there is little reason for Gerrard to think about rotating his ranks. So perhaps there is every chance that Katic could see out the season and leave Worrall to enjoy a quiet final weeks attached to Rangers.
