Leeds first team coach James Beattie played alongside Leon Osman at Everton.
Former Accrington Stanley manager James Beattie
Leeds United appointed James Beattie as first team coach last week, with the former striker working with Garry Monk as he did previously at Swansea City.
Perhaps by coincidence a day later, Leeds United were linked with signing Leon Osman by The Daily Mail,, who has recently been released by Everton and is looking for a club.

James Beattie played alongside Osman at Everton, with both being key figures in David Moyes side, often combining together with great effect.
It would not be a surprise to see Beattie use his connections and sway with Osman, to convince him to sign at Elland Road.

Osman may have recently turned 35, but he is still capable of performing at a high level, recently helping Everton reach the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup.
He has a knack for scoring goals and could look to replicate his link up with Beattie, with Leeds top striker Chris Wood.
If Osman is considering a move to Leeds United, then Beattie’s presence could prove to be a decisive factor.
The two times capped England international would not be daunted by playing at Elland Road, and could be a real leader for the Whites as they seek to put together a promotion challenging squad.

Osman could also help take the pressure off youngster Lewis Cook, and add depth to the club’s squad.
An alternative would be to bring back former loanee Liam Bridcutt, at a price, but Osman’s arrival on a free would ensure funds are available to spend on different positions.
