The Newcastle United winger has struggled to make an impact thus far.

While some of Newcastle United’s summer signings have hit the ground running, with Mikel Merino and Florian Lejeune particularly impressive, others have fallen short thus far, with Jacob Murphy barely featuring since his big-money move from Norwich City.
As reported by Sky Sports, Newcastle paid £12million for the 22-year-old, and for that kind of money they would have been hoping for more this season.

Instead the winger has managed just 79 minutes of Premier League football spread over four matches, with Newcastle’s elimination from the EFL Cup robbing him of a rare chance of first-team football in the weeks ahead.
Newcastle fans will be aware that patience can be the key to getting the best out of new signings, especially young players who suddenly have to contend with the added expectation brought on by a substantial price tag.

For now the matches are coming at a relatively steady pace, but over the busy Christmas and New Year period Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez will need all the players he can get his hands on, including Murphy.
That could be when the youngster finally proves his worth, getting more opportunities to shine when squad rotation is vital to ensure as many points as possible heading into 2018.
If Murphy can use the festive period to his advantage, Newcastle fans could see a very different player next year.
