The Aston Villa youngster is highly rated and may be eyeing a chance to break through after the skipper’s setback.
Following the news that Aston Villa captain John Terry has suffered a broken metatarsal in his right foot, their manager Steven Bruce has some big decisions to make regarding his replacement, with some of the club’s centre-back options failing to impress fans up to now.
Chris Samba looks the most likely replacement given his regular place on the bench this season, while Tommy Elphick could be brought in from the cold after failing to feature in a single match day squad in the Championship to date.
But there is another Villa defender who will be hoping Terry’s setback sees the door open for a potential first-team breakthrough.
At just 17, no one is expecting Jacob Bedeau to step into Terry’s sizable shows, but the teenager could be promoted to the bench on occasions, especially with the matches coming thick and fast over the festive period.
Bedeau signed for Villa from Bury for a reported £900,000 (BBC) last January and in time he is expected to become a key player for them.
For now the youngster is plying his trade with Villa’s under-23 side, with his last appearance culminating in a 6-0 victory against Newcastle United’s next generation.
Having already featured seven times for Bury prior to his move, Bedeau will be hoping his Villa debut is not too far away and Terry’s setback could offer him a tantalising glimpse of the future.
