Ipswich are interested in signing Jason Cummings from Nottingham Forest ahead of Rangers – could hiring Mark Warburton help them achieve it?
Cummings is currently on loan at Ibrox and Gers have the option of making that move permanent at the end of this season, with the striker having scored six times in 14 appearances to date.
However, the Glasgow outfit could now face competition from Ipswich, who are looking to bolster their attacking ranks with David McGoldrick expected to leave Portman Road when his current contract expires in June.
How Ipswich could triumph
Cummings has struggled south of the border since making the move to Forest from Hibernian in 2017, eventually going back to his home nation on a temporary deal in January once Aitor Karanka was named as Mark Warburton’s permanent successor as manager at the City Ground.
The former Rangers chief was the one who had brought Cummings to the Reds and the chance to reunite with the 55-year-old could be what sees the Tractor Boys win out for the Scotland international’s signature.
There will be a new boss in charge at Ipswich as of next term with Mick McCarthy having left earlier this month and according to the Nottingham Post, Warburton is strongly linked with the position.
