Serge Aurier limped off during Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-1 draw with Southampton on Sunday.

Tottenham Hotspur picked up another defensive injury this weekend when Serge Aurier limped out of the 1-1 draw with Southampton.
Mauricio Pochettino has had to cope without Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose for much of the season and now Aurier has joined the injury list.
It is not yet clear the extent of the Ivorian’s problem, but it was enough for him to be substituted for Kieran Trippier after 72 minutes at St Mary’s Stadium.

Could doubts over Aurier’s fitness derail Tottenham’s plan to send Kyle Walker-Peters out on loan before the end of the January transfer window?
However, should Aurier face an extended period on the sidelines, Pochettino would need to keep Walker-Peters to provide full-back cover on both flanks.

Trippier, having only started one of Tottenham’s last seven league matches, would regain his position as first choice but would need to be rotated with Walker-Peters as Spurs compete across three competitions.
Walker-Peters, a member of the European Championship-winning England Under-19s squad, has made five appearances for Spurs this season and may start next weekend’s FA Cup tie with Newport County.
It would have been beneficial for the highly-rated youngster to experience regular first-team football, as Kyle Walker and Rose have before returning to Spurs improved players, but Aurier’s injury may cause a rethink.
