Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers could have to fend off interest from Birmingham City in Niko Kranjcar.

With Birmingham City appointing Harry Redknapp earlier today, Glasgow Rangers may be forgiven for wondering whether Niko Kranjcar could become a transfer target of the Championship side.

Redknapp is known to be a huge admirer of Kranjcar, having signed him on three separate occasions throughout his managerial career.

Kranjcar has worked with Redknapp at Tottenham Hotspur, Portsmouth and Queens Park Rangers.

And, with Birmingham struggling for creativity, there is little doubt the experienced midfielder would improve Redknapp’s options at St. Andrews.

Rangers are yet to see the best of the Croatian, but there was great excitement when he arrived at Ibrox last summer.

Kranjcar remains a wonderfully gifted talent, but injury has curtailed his progress in Glasgow.

Kranjcar is expected to be return for Rangers in time for the start of next season, but with Redknapp back in management there will be an understandable fear that Birmingham could announce their interest.

And it will be interesting to see whether Kranjcar would be happy to stay with Rangers, or if yet another reunion with Redknapp would appeal.
